Bride

Kristi
Kristi was born in Tallinn, Estonia almost 28 years ago. Back then it was a dodgy soviet country but in 1991 it transformed to a slightly less dodgy former soviet country. At that time Kristi wasn’t paying too much attention to the political climate, though, because she had a lot more important things on her mind – her Barbie doll’s hair wasn’t growing back after its recent visit to the “stylist’s”.

When Kristi was 14 she decided that she wanted to learn a bit more English. Since she was still young and silly there was no question of just going on some courses. No! Kristi decided to submit her application to Tallinn English College and it got accepted. Through three torturous years she learned some English and found some good friends.

When the time came to decide on the university there wasn’t even a question – it was going to be Tartu all the way. Since Kristi didn’t know what she wanted to study she ended up going for an economics degree, mainly because it seemed easy enough to use in most walks of life.

Those four years were filled with fun, parties, new friends and the occasional stressful exam session but, by the end of it, Kristi realised it was time to start life as an adult and find a job. And that was how she stumbled into accountancy – because it seemed a simple enough thing to do while she was figuring out what she really wanted to do with her life.

Instead, Kristi got offered an accountancy job in England with the opportunity for a worldwide qualification. She jumped – OK, more like hobbled with the umm’ing and err’ing that was going on – at the chance and this was how she ended up in Shropshire.

Here, Kristi’s housemate convinced her to try salsa, and when she did, she met Steve. And this is why you’re on this page today.

Steve
Steve, 28 years of age, has lived the majority of his life in the small Shropshire town of Shrewsbury. He was born in London, but his family moved to Shrewsbury when he was four. When it was time to leave school, Steve still wasn't clear on what career to pursue, and it wasn't until completing college that he finally decided on a career in IT. This was chosen for being an area he was both good at and enjoyed.

Steve planned to attend Uni, until an opportunity with an I.T. company presented itself in the form of a Modern Apprenticeship. He took this and started his career as a computer programmer working on the Inland Revenue systems. Steve has since transitioned into management, and is in his final year of a degree in computing, which he is studying part time.

Ever since a backpacking trip round Europe in 2002, Steve has loved to travel. One of his aims is to visit to every country in the world. Although this may very well be unattainable, it is at least something to strive for, and has created a website to track his progress at www.travelsometimes.com

After booking a trip to Cuba and with his parents having emigrated to Mexico, Steve decided to try his hand at dancing as the locals do, salsa style. To his amazement he was a natural and only later found dancing was in his genes, with both his parent having danced and his Dad's mother even winning competitions in her youth. Steve continued dancing, at one point attending various Salsa venues five days a week. It was lucky he did decide to stick with the dancing, as he would never have met Kristi otherwise.
