Tallinn has two distinct areas, the old town and the surrounding new town.
The Old Town
Right in the centre of Tallinn is the city's old town. Enclosed by large stone walls, complete with red rooved turrets, filled with cobbled streets and timber buildings, this is one of Europes finest and best preserved medieval towns.
There is much character in these old buildings, small shops, cafes, bars and restaurants line every steet, not to mention the fantastic churches that loome on the horizon. The place is quite compact and easy to get round, but every corner you turn holds a new place you'll be eager to explore.
Modern Tallinn
Tallinn is not just old buildings and tourist attractions. Surrounding the walls of the old town is very much a modern city. With Skyscrapers adorning the skyline, shopping malls filled with the latest store chains and entertainment complexes with cinemas, bowling alleys and nightclubs, you can do more than just the usual tourist trappings.
